Die off

As you kill off old infections, there will be side effects from the die off -- the detritus left behind by the microbes in question dying. Managing die off is a significant part of the healing process. Here are some common issues:

Yeast overgrowth

Yeast feeds on detritus, so probably getting too yeasty is the single most common side effect. It starts as yeast overgrowth in the gut and can result in a vaginal yeast infection if you have a vagina.

You may smell yeasty, your gums may bother you and it can negatively impact mood. Yeast is a form of fungus, so it can have brain impacts as well, sort of like a mild hallucinogen or similar.

You probably will not experience anything like a hallucination, but it can interfere with thinking straight. If you find yourself engaging in obviously broken logic or making the same stupid mistakes repeatedly and also smell yeasty, treating for yeast is a good idea.

Die-off rashes

Die-off rashes will look different depending upon what is dying. They may look somewhat like a sunburn, they may look bumpy similar to an allergic reaction to poison ivy or they may involve brown or red spots on the skin.

Some of them itch and some do not. It is a best practice to wash them with soap. This can calm any itching or discomfort and help them resolve faster.

Some resolve in a few hours. Some can persist for weeks or months. In some cases, you may need to wash with soap several times a day to keep the discomfort under control.

Bugged by Bugs

Bugs are attracted to smell. While you may not smell anything, insects and other bugs in the area may smell the die off and be attracted to it.

This can result in gnats swarming your eyes or ears. It can result in spiders repeatedly biting you in the same area. It can result in other insects crawling on you, biting you, etc.

If it's a hassle, showering and possibly soaping up the area that is attracting bugs can help. It may also be appropriate to change your clothes at that point, especially if they smell noticeably.

If it's bad enough, it may make sense to throw out the clothing in question. I have a long history of living in cheap t-shirts and tossing them in the trash regularly and buying new.

Floaters

Having detritus in your bloodstream can result in floaters mucking up your vision. You can feel like you are looking at the world through lace curtains, especially if infection is dying in the brain or face.

I usually just wait for this to clear up on its own, but if it's really bothering you, saffron rice and extra milk thistle MAY help. Saffron is a blood cleanser and milk thistle is liver support. The liver filters the blood.
