A Few Provisos
This site is not medical advice.
This site is potentially useful as self help for a knowledgeable adult being honest with themselves about the details of their lives who is already engaging in self care for a chronic condition and wishes to up their game or who has one or more problems doctors are failing to really fix.
It is absolutely not intended to be a means for a lay person to "play doctor" for everyone they know socially, much less as a means to stage an intervention with an unwilling acquaintance.
Alternate views of this site: "For entertainment purposes only"; Some woman talking to herself because no one else really wants to engage with her on the topic.
Can it be used as a means for a lay person to be helpful to others who WANT such help? Yes, at times, assuming it is a COOPERATIVE situation where they are helping someone help themselves because -- FOR EXAMPLE -- the person is very sick and thus unable to stay on top of everything without assistance.
But be mindful of the fact that the author of this blog has no medical credentials and reading this blog does not confer medical credentials nor the broad experience of your typical medical professional, PLUS if someone is not being honest and forthcoming about all pertinent details, you are potentially putting them in danger and it could come back to bite you.
The law will not likely be on your side if it goes badly. I encourage you to think twice before trying to take responsibility for someone else's health via alternate remedies when you are not a medical professional.
This goes triple if for any reason they may not wish to disclose pertinent information to you. (For example: They are an addict.)
If you are a parent wanting kinder, gentler treatments for your child(ren): Be very conservative with kids.
Try it on yourself first. Some alternative remedies are a gentle alternative to OTC meds for mild issues, but please be extra cautious about recognizing the limits of your expertise and competence.
Different people have different levels of education and background knowledge. Some people can readily use this type of info to good effect and others really cannot.
I stopped posting to CF lists in part because most people on them are pretty knowledgeable about health and medical stuff, but one woman took my recommendation to give her child with CF coconut oil and the child had such severe diarrhea a diaper could not contain it AND this went on for like a WEEK or more before she tired of mopping the floor and said something to me.
She was giving a small child -- maybe 4 to 7 years old -- a tablespoon of coconut oil daily. It was way too much.
If you don't understand the information here, don't use it. KEEP READING until it makes more sense. Look up medical terms you don't understand. Even if you think you understand it, please take the most cautious steps first, such as starting a journal and trying B vitamins.
If you run into serious side effects you didn't expect, discontinue what you are doing or at least ramp it down.
I am not a medical professional and even if I were, I am not consulting with people in person. Even if you messaged me and gave me info about your situation, I cannot see that your pupils are dilated though you didn't mention it or whatever.
You are on your own here and cannot reasonably hold me legally responsible for what you choose to do with information posted to the internet.
