I'm absolutely certain that "People with CF overproduce mucus." is flat out wrong as a mental model for CF pathology.

CF is a salt wasting condition wherein we under produce mucus because of the lack of salt and it involves the misprocessing of fats and a compromised immune system. Mucus is an important part of how the body protects the lungs and we lack adequate protection, so it's best known as a deadly lung disorder.

However, it also substantially impairs gut function. While mucus is important to gut function, bile is critical to the digestion of fats and has important immune system functions. Bile salts are a significant component of bile and most likely we are deficient in bile because we dump salt at high rates and are salts deficient.

Salts deficiency involves myriad knock on effects, but that's the root cause of everything. Sodium chloride gets called "salt" or table salt and is chemically classified as a salt. Sodium bicarbonate -- AKA baking soda -- is also classified as a salt and it's another salt we misprocess and that fact promotes extreme acidity.

Increased bile production is apparently a substantial element of my recovery process and that's promoted vomiting for a lot of years.
