Selenium

Tempted to call this post "Selenium and WORLD PEACE."

Selenium deficiency promotes a feeling of FRUSTRATION. When I annoy my kids too much with being a whiny bitch, they go "What is that thing you get deficient in..."

Pork is HIGH in selenium, as are Brazil nuts, but unlike pork, Brazil nuts aren't banned by multiple religions. Pork is banned. Both Muslims and Jews eschew pork and probably trend towards being selenium deficient.

At the other end of the spectrum, Black Americans tend to eat a LOT of pork and have high blood pressure. "Coincidentally!" selenium raises blood pressure.

Meanwhile, it's a metalloid or chemically metallic and salt helps remove metals while American doctors tell Blacks to NOT eat too much salt because of their high blood pressure. They should probably get told "Get MORE salt and cut back on the pork in your diet."

My proposal for promoting WORLD PEACE:

Put some dry roasted nuts on the table at important negotiations involving Jews and Muslims. Make sure there are Brazil nuts in the mix. Macadamias, cashews and almonds are other good choices.

No, I wasn't thinking SPECIFICALLY of the Hamas-Israel war. TOTES COINCIDENCE! I SWEAR!!!

Footnote

A SINGLE Brazil nut, depending on its size and YOUR size, can supply 100 percent of your RDA for selenium and it's a COMMON nutrient found in many other foods, just not in crazy high amounts. I ate one to three Brazil nuts several days a week for six months to resolve my long-standing deficiency.
